Sharks and Rafts

Do sharks attack rafts? I know that they will attack if you are in the water and get too close, but I can't find anywhere if they will attack you when you're on a raft. I would like to hope that rafts are safe. I've tried baiting a shark to come closer in creative mode, but I don't know if they don't care when you're on a raft or if I didn't get close enough.

Never seen a shark in the water in single player(on hard)
They are always dead on the beach.

Rafts are indeed safe from sharks. There are cannibals capable of sinking your raft which could leave you in shark filled waters at unfortunate times, but as long as you are on a raft that remains floating the sharks can't harm you. You can even take potshots at the shark until it eventually dies, though their corpses sink so you gain no resources from it.

They have certain places that they swim in. There are several over by the yacht and others out around the little islands. I'm working in creative and building bases on the islands. I think they also just recently added them to multiplayer too and they should be in every difficulty, including creative and peaceful.

Thank you! I'm playing on creative with no cannibals so no worries there. Once you kill a shark in an area, do they respawn or is that it once it's dead? Because I've only seen one shark per assigned area except by the yacht.

I don't think I've actively hunted them enough to know for sure, but I do believe they respawn after a while. I remember having a base on one of the islands over by the crates that I had to careful when swimming to. I'd kill one, be fine for a while, and eventually end up ambushed when I though I was fine...until I finally got around to actually setting up my zipline and bridge.
