It was mainly for the purpose of surviving the night incase of an attack on the beach, as a quick resort. Also, I found out that it was stuck on a rock and after 15 minutes of moving the boat strategically, finally got it off. Saying that, it's probably 4 miles into the ocean by now.
As with rafts, you need to be careful to make sure it doesn't get stuck on anything underwater, you can move it around by walking into the walls while looking different directions, you can even turn it. Its difficult and not very well implemented, but it is possible. I wouldn't want to travel anywhere in it as its very slow however, but for re-positioning its fine.
