House boat - water living

[Axsdenied]

So I build a house boat, which is pretty cool. Only to find I can't build a ton of stuff that I would expect I could on it.

What I can build so far:
Bed
Small Fire
Hanging Skull Light

What I can't but want to:
Wall planter
Turtle rain catcher
Stick/Skull floor light

Is this by design, a bug, or in the backlog to address?

Trying to make my own water world on the lake. Self sustaining with water, fire and farm to never have to go to land. So far completely safe from all cannibal types ;)

There is no connection to land whatsoever.

Trying this myself, the mutant and cannibal swarms is making getting logs kinda tricky since they haven't stopped attaching in 4 days and for some reason my character is unable to melee attack cannibals, I can block just find but I cant swing to attack.

But yeah, other than that, My main platform is about 1/4 done, but since it requires over 300 logs just for the base platform, yeah going to take a while. Anyhew, the farms are bugged, once harvested I cannot replant, and when I loaded my save game after taking a break all my plants were gone, so don't expect to be too self sufficient until that gets fixed.

Having problems with the planters myself as well. Trying rabbit farms next while they work out the bugs ;)

Haven't run into the melee attack problem other than missing axe swings due to positioning.

Careful with the rabbits, if you drop them they go bottom of the lake. Fishing is best for now, but watch out for the crocodile ;)

Im on the coast, so there is plenty of sea fishing if I can only find a spear. I ended up dieing on my world, I made it to day 24, I had 17 days of nonstop hordes so I think I did fairly well.

Im not going to reload a save, im just going to start from scratch, its less than a week until the next update anyway so no point planning anything big.

Did all the work to make this happen before seeing your post LOL.

Made a rabbit cage, traps; caught a rabbit (only to find a bug with the raft. It swtiches your hand back to the plane axe when crossing it's edges, which ofcourse makes you drop the rabbit you're carrying)

I had to build mario bro's style platforms (no bridge just in case cannis & mutants) so I could bring it to the cage, all to find I couldn't kill them on the platform because they drop through the platforms. UGH!

On a flip side, I've been able to keep Water World 2.0's (see pic below) planters alive through multiple saves so far. Seed them, and 100% farm them before saving and they seem to be fine.

I'm going to try rabbit pens but I am going to make a tall stone wall enclosure on either an island or the mainland for them, it'll probably be time consuming and expensive, but if it gets me the food I need without needing to fight every 30 seconds for it then it'll be worth it.

Looking nice, I like building out in the water, it just seems to be the safest place to be, still playing around with various walls and traps to see if I can make a secure land base.
