Can't make waterskins...

For some reason I can't make waterskins. I got rope and two deer hides, but the only option I get when I put my mouse over the hides is to wear them, no crafting option.

I have tried first choosing the rope and putting on the crafting mat, but even then I still can't choose the deer hides for crafting.

Any help is very much appreciated!

Same problem here. Im new, but read a thread about a guy saying he had 3, but that was from a while ago. For me it does not give the option. I'm assuming they have limited it to one..
Any advice from a vet would be great.

Just to make sure, did you actually press the key on them to try crafting anyway, even if the prompt didn't appear?

i did, yes. Placed both skins and rope on the mat and hit the craft button anyways. Couldn't get it either way.

Ah, I thought you meant the prompt for putting the skins in the middle wasn't appearing, not the actual "gear" icon. I can't create any more myself, but I think that is because I already have one (you can only carry one, so any more would be useless, since you can't place them into the world).
