I dont really mod myself, and i know the mod list for this game isnt expansive, but if all else fails it may be worth at least checking out whats available. its not like this is an unknown issue. Its possible a modder somewhere got sick of it to and made something to improve it.
But thanks for the suggestion.
Probably a few answers there, but I'd argue that there's not many other intiuitive ways to assign quickslotting in The Forest.
1. open inventory
2. hover over, or click item
3. select quick slot (e.g. press '1')
What is wrong with the standard 9 or 10 quickslots with simple highlight and choose a number or drag item into slot?
I don't have anything against not explaining stuff, but the craft backback togehter with the weapon or stuff you want at a quickslot is just so strange to me. Also the fact that the quickslots at the beginning are already asigned and you don't even know because it shows nowwhere. Have a friend who is very, how can you say it, clickity? She often presses wrong buttons when in panik and this way she used a lot of stuff whitout needing it.
Hope this will be better in the new game. But from the trailer and from Farkets videos it rather looks that they make it more complicated than it has to be xx.
But it was added sometime during early access because people "demanded" it, so my guess is the devs just smashed it into the crafting system and moved on.
I'm sure if we have quick slots on SOTF they will have found a better solution. (If not they just went with legacy for the sake of legacy)
Edit: On the other if the one detail that stuff automatically gets added wasn't there, it would be a great system.
As in: "Find out how it works or you can't use it."
