Saw two rendering differences:
1. Beach sand is too shiny? (Could be my imagination, was early morning in the game btw)
2. All the small trees that are about as tall as your eyes and give 1 stick with 1 chop "plop in" at a too near distance. I.e. only 70 yards away they will look like faraway firs, i.e. light, light green with a very white outline, 30 yards medium green and "plop" darkish green as you're 5 yards away. This was the only clear noticable diff from Deferred. None of the other vegetation had this issue.
Hope it helps :)
7970 is a very fast card even by todays standards.
Intel Pentium E5500 2.8GHZ
6GB of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
The bug mainly caused 2 things:
• The world to be in eternal darkness (it looked like it was always night time even during the day, making it extremely hard to see anything and I always had to have my lighter out)
• Light sources would have massive black circles around them (including the flashlight, making it unuseable for the longest time)
Using the older cards mode fixed this completely but it cause some minor
but manageable bugs.
So, as far as performance, I didn't notice much impact since it was already bad. But it fixed some game breaking issues. So for users using integrated graphics (low end prebuilt computers usually with no actual graphics card) it is a must until they can get better specs.
Its May 2018
Any chance by Dec 2018 this game can support
OpenGL 3.3 (Legacy Renderer?)
OpenGL 4.5 (same graphics as DX11)
and in 2019-2020 it can add VULKAN (same graphics as DX12)
Note:
OpenGL 4.5 is the same graphics as DX11 but runs on
MacOSX + LINUX + Windows 7/8/10
Vulkan has the same graphics as DX12 yet runs on
LINUX + Windows 7/8/10
