Drying rack help

I just started playing in coop and we are having a hard time with the drying rack.

There are times that we can't interact with anything on the drying rack, but I'm not sure if it's because the food is not ready yet.

How long does it take meat to dry before it is freshly dried and edible dried?

We seem to have a problem with stuff that we can pull off that it's already spoiled.

Are there different visibility indicators so we can tell when the meat is in different stages? It looks like the rabbit meat gets darker, but it's hard to tell for the other meats that are initially a dark color.

Yes, the dark color is an indication your meat gets spoiled. I stopped using the dry rack all together as there is no real use for it with *so* much food around. I also hate that you cannot take spoiled food off but instead are forced to eat it.

And ok, let me tell you about a little bug I currently use, kill animal put it's meat in your back pack, then within 0-6 in game hours take it out and drop it at a good spot on the ground. It will not spoil then at all. Do that a few times and you've got food for days. One catch, just before you leave the game pick the meat back up in your backpack, save and log out. Next time you log in to your last save, open up your backpack, get the food out and drop it back to the ground.

You can actually take the meat off without eating it. You just tap E instead of holding it down.

Thanks for the other tip, although I don't really want to make the game any easier.
