Why are people thinking the player character is headless

i keep seeing artworks that show him without a head? such as these:

During the first few builds of the game, the characters shadow had no head due to some glitch. They fixed it long ago so it isn't really relevant now. Those artworks are fairly old if you check the dates, too.

Your own character doesn't have a head model, since it would glicht into the camera while running

There is no Head model, you don't Need it to cast the shadow

Actually, it just doesn't get displayed for your self, if it would be displayed it would glicht in the camera.

There is a head to your character model.

There is no Head. You don't get the Point. If i remember correctly there were a few Patches where the character had a Head and it was glichting into the Camera. Download any Engine you want and set up a first Person game and try to attach a third Person character. You will notice the exact same Thing.

I thought you had a head model because in multiplayer you can see the other people's head and see a shadow of your own head(solo and multiplayer).

Thats what i tried to explain to you. The shadow is casted, but to avoid glitches the head model itself is hidden to the Player Controlling the character. For all other Players it is visible.
