No, no, no. Do not follow this "advice". While traps are indeed great, dynamite against cannies or mutants is just a waste of resources. Some smartly placed traps and barricades/walls can give you 100% protection agains cannies.
Traps are effective agains mutants as well, but I strongly recommend to deal with them outside of your base. Throwing spears are your best friends. Craft a bag for them. You can also use modern bow+sport arrows. Common bow with bone arrows will also work. Use one poisoned arrow to slow down the Fat Boi if he is too fast for you.
Birs are not the best source of food. Use bow to hunt down rabbits and lizards, and spears for deers. If you are constantly attacked by cannies, you should not have any problems with food - you can eat them as well.
Indeed. It's extremely effective agains your base. 800% effectiveness
Yes. In some places they spawn almost always, in other - from time to time. There are some places where they almost do not spawn, but I've never seen places where they 100% will not spawn.
When they come. Light the fires from the inside and relax :)
Opps. Yeh they do that sometimes.

As for how to deal with them in general, for cannibals I find "strafe and stab" to be the most effective method for melee combat. The cannibals have very linear attacks so it's very easy to side step them and make them miss, giving you an opening to return the favor. If you have decent aim, bows could also be a great option as a headshot from any bow with any arrow will instantly kill a cannibal. For the bigger enemies, fire is your friend and ranged is often safer. It's possible to fight them with melee combat but i'd advise getting used to their attacks before you try and get up close and personal. Also, never underestimate the importance of armor; even if all you have is lizard skin, it is better than nothing.
Traps can help thin out enemies near your base as well. Be aware that some traps, like the deadfall for example, can be dangerous for the player as well if you get too close. Some traps have mild perks to them though. Happy birthday traps can act as secondary walls once triggered, the noose trap is a non-lethal trap that cant actually harm the player if you are prone to running into your own traps but can still help you deal with cannibals, and even the animal trap can be mildly useful as it is able to capture babies as well.
