But you have some errors in the explanation of the savegame editor. I will make it more clear in the next version ^^
Short Explanation:
The savegame editor shows your actual savegame. So you have to create a savegame first to edit them. Then you can change your inventory or other stuff. Save it and load it again in game and you will see the changes.
Also it's possible to load an old 0.04 or 0.05 savegame and save it as a new 0.06 savegame.

You missed out the developer console. You can open it with key key over tab (backquote or backslash I suppose) and type in "spawn " to spawn a lot of things like mutants on the overworld.
The object names for them are:
theforest.entities.mutants.spider
theforest.entities.mutants.armsy
The arm monster also can destroy your spike walls ^^
