Warm suit purpose

Is there any actual story or reason for warm suit or just to go into the snowy area for nothing

Use it to live in snowy areas. Or just explore or farm.

It prevents cold damage essentially, so it's an optional item really (barring achievement hunting and needing "crafty"). You can battle the cold in other ways like lighting fires, and normally people's biggest reason to go into the snow is to explore or find the cockpit. One helpful use for the warmsuit I have found is caves though. Rather than light fires throughout some of the cold/damp caves I will use the warmsuit if I've already gone ahead and made it. It's in caves that I find it most useful since most enemies don't respawn so once you clear an area you dont mind going without your armors protection to warm up. Just be aware that any damaged pieces of armor (and sometimes a piece of undamaged creepy) will disappear when you switch between the warm suit and your regularly equipped armor, so this is best used if you dont mind getting rid of some lizard skin or know you can replace what you lose in that cave easily enough.
