Strength: Strength will improve faster if your character is well fed and doing strength building activities. The most common and entertaining of which tend to be fighting and logging (chopping the trees and lifting the logs both count towards building this stat). It means one of the fastest ways to level your strength is to ensure you have a lot of food and go to war with the cannibals. Also make sure you avoid infection while doing so, you are likely to get covered in blood which causes said infections and said infections can reduce your strength.
Athleticism: The fastest way to raise this is to eat less, not enough to starve but basically barely enough to avoid starvation, preferably with low calorie foods like berries and small meats rather than candy bars and large meats. Then, run around or "dive". Diving is technically the faster option and, if done right, can technically be semi-afk grinding. "Diving" only counts when you are not wearing the rebreather, and are submerged enough to have your oxygen bar showing. The afk strat for that being to place your character just under the water surface in such a way that they occassionally get to breathe when the tide rolls by, though you will still have to pay enough attention to make sure they dont die of other things like starvation or dehydration.
