Which Arrow Do You Like?
So assuming the wiki is accurate still:

Poison Arrows do some extra damage as a DoT, plus slow and weaken enemies a little. They need poisonous plants which I don't find too difficult to locate and stockpile. Also, you have to repoison the arrows after each use.

Fire Arrows do the most damage of all the arrows as a DoT and disable an enemy for the duration of their burn as they flail around. They need booze and cloth which can dry up quickly given how many things those items are used for and you have to reset every arrow you use. Plus you have to ignite each shot which takes time, so they're the slowest to fire.

Bone Arrows do the least amount of bonus damage (slightly less than poison), but do all the damage up front instantly. They apply no debuffs of any kind. They require a lot of bones to make which, depending on how you're doing fighting the enemy and what else you use bones for, could be plentiful or scarce. They do not, however, require replacing after every shot and so long as you can keep retrieving them you can use them forever.

So all that said, what's your arrow preference? Do you favor just one kind, or do you use a mix? I've been experimenting with all three personally and while I have a soft spot for good ol fire, the others are interesting too.

I perfer the fire arrows, but I keep some of the others as well just for some variation.
Btw. I think the bone arrows are heavier and doesn't go as far as the other arrows.

It all depends what I'm fighting and how far away they are:
Long distance/caves - fire arrows (high damage body shots and provides good light).
Mutants in normal - fire arrows.
Mutants in hard - maintaining poison on them while fighting melee w/ upgraded spear.
Low tier cannibals - normal arrows.
High tier cannibals - bone arrows.

Each arrow has it's strategic use, which is the way it should be.

I only use bone and poison arrows. Poison arrows can actually instant kill cannibals with a headshot so if I'm dealing with a large group, I try to headshot one by one with poison. This might have changed though since they nerfed the crafted bow.

If I see a mutant get aggressive and start to run, I shoot a poison arrow into them to make them slow and easier to dodge. Combining poison arrows and melee is good too because they attack slower and do less damage so you can dance around them while chopping them up with an axe or something.

I use bone arrows mainly for hunting animals and against mutants. Keeping your distance from mutants saves you armor because one strike from them will destroy a lot of it so I pepper them with bone arrows. I don't often use bone arrows on cannibals because if they decide to retreat, they might run away with a bunch of my arrows.

Fire arrows and fire in general make mutants go ballistic, they'll run all around and try to hit you. Makes them harder to fight and they are also more resistant to fire on hard so I rarely use fire. Fire is okay on cannibals since it immobilizes them. Then I just beat them up while they're flailing around.

Normal arrows + headshots
I will use a poison arrow on Virginias, shoot one then switch to melee. Maybe need 1 more before she dies. Drastically reduces their speed. They seem to effect the Virginia's the most. (possibly AI bugs)

Didn't know poison was fairly popular. Interesting. Today's patch notes also suggested some melee weapons can be poisoned as well. Might be a good way to mix up elements.

There was a time fire didn't seem to stick with mutants for more than a second or two, but that no longer seems to be the case.

I've tried out both bows and despite the crafted bow being nerfed it seems to handle mostly the same. Maybe the arrow drops a bit sooner in its arc. I guess I'll have to play with it some more.

Yeah the decreased range is very noticeable, you have to aim a little bit higher for targets that are farther away. Despite the nerfs, the crafted bow is still very useful. I haven't used the modern bow that much since I started a new save on hard survival but it seems good, just needs a sight for more accurate and long range shots since it's meant to be a 'sniper'.

Maybe we get to make a sight for it at a later point. That could be interesting.

That'd be cool. I mean, I got the hang of firing these things pretty accurately, but a little more ease of use would still be nice.

I like bone arrows, you can shoot nearly 3X as many fire arrows and I'm are much cheaper to make.

I like the arrow that's in my enemies skull :-p
