you may want to check cave 8 (or the submerged cave)
the reason I say this is because multiple changes have been made to the cave in the newest update such as clearing out clutter and such.

Its in the sinkhole cave. Theres a big room all the way down that has 2 virginias in it and some cannibals. Look for a pool of water that and swim down to the bottom to another room that has a tent, a campfire, flare boxes, and some cardboard boxes. The modern bow is resting on the cardboard boxes.

I just found this spot before I exited the game, I thought I picked everything up that I could and destroyed the boxes but didnt see a bow, I saved at the tent so I'll def look harder when I play again. My playthrough is from beforet the patch.

Switch to the cave map and then just put modern bow in the search box. Modern Bow will appear in the drop down menu. Click it and it'll take you there. Otherwise, look in the upper left area of the overall cave map. You'll see a big room marked Cave 8. The modern bow is to the left of that room at the end of the long water section. Zoom in on that small room at the end of the water tunnel and you'll see the modern bow icon there
