how to get water in snowy mountains?

played the game long time ago, thought should challenge myself to survive in cold but seems like water collector doesn’t collect anything when snows, and i can’t grab snow to boil in old pot. am i doing something wrong?

Dead-.- Wish, why has your reasonable question been ignored? Is that Benny saying that melting snow in a pot for drinking water is dumb? You know he is talking about snow and ice as in frozen water? Not Meth and Coke right Benny? I doubt you can find it in the sad box. I have just started this game and died pretty fast, I tried to scare off those THINGS from the beginning by slaying them and I admit that was dumb of me, but I was really just finished off by them about 6 days into the game, I was dying of thirst before getting dragged to there camp and then walked everywhere looking for the pond but could not get all those sticks together and build a fire quick enough to boil water to drink, before being attacked again, i was interrupted again and again but then finally I was finished boiling the water when i was hit again and in shock attacked my pot of water tipping it over, I was killed soon after while trying to run away, the bastards ate me. It had rained days before and i had two turtle shell water catchers full of water but i wasn't able save any, why can't I use them glass bottles or clean out the fuel bottles? I didn't know you could drink pond water and keep your health, try drinking pond water that's been sitting there for weeks in real life and see how you feel, the mosquito larva swimming around in that pond would carry god knows what, Dengue fever, Malaria, this game? it is in the tropics right? even if it isn't somewhere warm when your half starved you cant handle massive diarrhoea and fever, although I would love to see my guy spray painting the floor from his backside when his got dysentery lol maybe in number two.
I made another foolish assumption that I was not going to be able to cut down a tree till i had a proper axe but it isn't that realistic, I have cut down a couple full grown trees and always with crap tools and no chainsaw, once all I had was a hatchet that i broke then half busted the handle on a second hatchet, finally lent a bow-saw that worked great but still took ages of back breaking work, you would be blistered and totally spent and the axe would probably be blunt with just the head left like my old hatchet was by the time you cut down one tree, OH....do large jet passenger aircraft carry safely axes? I've never flown myself so i couldn't say for sure but it sounds unsafe, having an axe on a plain for the passengers to smash some emergency glass and pull it out. 911 they used box cutters yeah? lucky they didn't see the axe in first class.

There are at least 3 bodies of water in the snowy region that I can think of off the top of my head. You can base near them, or, if you just fill a pot and a water skin with water, it will last you a few days. Soda is also abundant and respawns endlessly.

Well I played Green Hell quite a lot and now after switching to the forest i didn’t realize that i can drink any water i find. now turns out i can drink every water and survive. in green hell it is biggest problem to fund clear water and you can die from parasites in second day :/
