Armor
Is armor still just a short buff? After 2-3 fights my armor is destroyed, it almost feels like what's the point...

What kind of armour?

Well obviously armour will weaken when fighting the cannis ... hence having to replace it.

Lizard and camo armour are the weakest. Bone armour lasts a little longer, and mutant armour lasts a bit more.

Armor is literally bonus HP. Open up your survival book and go to character stats to see how much extra HP you are wearing. You can wear up to 10 pieces of armor.

Armor is basically bonus health. It doesn't reduce incoming damage like armor in many games, it just takes that damage itself rather than hitting your health pool directly. Stealth armor should not generally be used as your standard armor. It takes additional fire damage and it's already a weak armor type, so save that for when you actually want to do stealth.

Lizard armor is also very weak, but incredibly easy to obtain. Even on hard survival when lizards aren't spawning as much, hunt some crocodiles and boom, you've got 4 armor right there because you poked a big toothy lizard enough times.

Bone armor...well...it's a great armor but you get it by killing cannibals and burning the bodies, so you do have to risk your armor to make more. If you get hit a lot when doing that then yeah, you will lose armor faster than you get more. Generally you can reduce how often you are hit when fighting by strafing. The cannibal attacks are often quite linear so you can avoid being hit by simply sidestepping them.

Creepy armor, you need to kill the creepies/mutants to get the bubblegum armor but it is the best armor you can get. I usually save the creepy for when I'm doing the ending, or if I end up stockpiling it.

I honestly didn't know it just gave extra health, though that's kind of worse then. And I was using bone armor, granted this was on my first play where I wasn't able to set up a decent defensive base (my second play I built a solid wall around my base, getting logs and rocks saved, then started building the spear-barricade thing around the bottom of it) but it's generally frustrating that the game doesn't explain it, or have armor like normal games.

The armor can be quite useful, especially since you can hotkey it and carry up to 10 (of each type), so you can pretty easily replace lost health instantly instead of the medicines over time healing effect. This game could use a bit more explanation on some things admittedly, like many don't actually know the hotkey is a feature until playing for a while already.

Basing, may not be my strongest discussion point, I normally live nomadic. I play p2p a lot and those don't tend to last long, so I don't often invest that time in building something I'll likely never see again. That sort of disclaimer said, base defenses are mostly to defend the base, not so much you. They can help you, and in some cases also hurt you...a lot...and many fights end up coming down to you running outside to go defend your walls, or taking potshots over those walls to defend them. Means that when I do base I usually don't invest a whole bunch into walls/defenses, although I do love the happy birthday traps acting as secondary walls once triggered.

Take mutant amor. Best amor in the game, but looks a little bit weird :)

my stealth armor never runs out

I love my mutant armor. Even have a suit on a stand in my main base, and thinking about making a row of all the different kinds.
