I'd like something with 'base' building that has things looking to kill you. The Forest is what im looking for; however, building is clunky and incomplete.
you should check out some of the cool crazy ♥♥♥♥ people build around the community, here on steam, the subreddit, youtube, etc., right off the top of my head I would suggest Merkrono and Bertimus on youtube, and Triyid (https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198185795325), 3rd Axis (https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198151643766), and even this guy Otto (https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198873119243) here on steam (although it would seem he used mods, so, less cool)

(edit, I linked their steam urls, but I guess steam didn't like that for some reason? maybe just go through my friends list( or just click reply on this post and the urls show back up for me, hopefully for everyone else too))

you could also even just check out what I've built :P

2) Base building: you can build way bigger than you can in the Forest and there is much more tech and base defences to use
excuse me? you can build so big in the forest it's almost not worth mentioning the limit, I've only known like 5 people (myself included) to have reached the build limit

I love The Forest but the base building to me is way behind the times.
how so?

Missing Subsistence and Stranded Deep in the lists above. Both cool in their own way IMO

Get a chance to try out Unturned.

It's a free pretty fun survival game almost exactly like the forest except it's a minecraft/roblox looking game with A LOT of mods you can get. I would really recommend playing it with a friend on a nice server without 12 year old squeakers raiding your base.

Well for base building, Subnautica and Subnautica Below Zero are similar. Below zero building isnt complete yet though as its EA still.

7 Days to Die is a good game for complex building if you like killing zombies too. However, it can require a beast PC to play high quality smoothly and not low quality with occasional frame skips.

Then there is Raft, but its building on a floating "Raft" obviously, but with a survival element lol.

I might have to give 7 days to die a try.

7 days to die is definitely worth to try out. One of the most fun games in my library, and now even more with the next big update around the corner! Plus pretty much everything you don't like can easily be modded out just by editing some xml files or adding pre-made modlets.

Good choice sir. I have 100s of hours in 7DTD myself, mostly in Single player. It needs a lot of materials sometimes so can be quite grindy, until you get better and better tools.

The latest update i didnt personally like, as it made it massively harder. I know before someone says, "Get gud" lol, i just liked the zombies as they were. Before the changes, people would go mining overnight or get up some where high and wait the night out as the AI didnt know how to get to you other than circle around you. Now with better AI changes, they dig down to were you are mining or break blocks to create steps up to get to you. Also some of the health and damage changes were annoying... BUT just to let you know. What you can do is play older released versions which is good for if you want nostalgia or you dont like the new version, so want to play the old one. I have both alpha 16 and the new 17 installed to play, which you can also try out. Ask if you want to know how to do that, otherwise have fun. :buzzed:

7 Days is great too but graphics are dated and there is really no purpose.

7 Days got a complete graphics overhaul in A17 (about 5 months ago), you should check it out again, it looks much better. Of course with it being a VOXEL engine, it is always going to demand a fairly hefty CPU.

As for purpose....the purpose is to survive, right? I actually dislike survival games that have a story and an end. Such as The Forest, lol. I have played about 200 hours of this game and never once had the inclination to advance the story. 7 Days has more purpose than most such games. Every 7 nights an increasingly large zombie horde will attack you. You are basically spending the 6 days in between hordes preparing for the next one. Gathering and producing ammo, adding further base-defences, etc etc. If that isn't purpose I do not know what is.

Yeah, some things worse, some things better in a17. I liked the option to turn bloodmoon off or make it random. Even have one every night. Not too long now till a18! Pretty hyped for that. :b

7600K can handle t days to die?
Andi 23 AGO 2019 a las 21:24
I have 6700k @4.2ghz, 980ti and 16 ram, game on SSD. I can run it fairly well with stable 60 fps @1080p
I get acceptable frame drops when entering a bigger building with many sleepers waking up and on horde nights. But nothing too critical.
Graphic options pretty much maxed, except some reflection stuff and motion blur wich is annoying anyway
