New weapon? What weapon?

I saw changelog for new version released few hours ago, does anyone know what is that new weapon?

I think it may be a gun.
It needs to be assembled and parts are scattered across map in caches. And then you have this line in patch notes "Ammo pickup added and added to cave spots"

Sounds a lot like the gun ideas being tossed around. Make it difficult to find. Scatter pieces. Scatter ammo...



I hope it's a gun. At least this way we can try it out and if it ruins game play or if there's no way to balance it, they can always remove it. But then at least we can say we went down that road and it didn't work out, if that is the case.

I used theforestmap.com to track down all the parts. This was on normal yet was still a bit of a hassle to do and requires a good deal of explosives. As a weapon it's a bit complicated to use as there is no cross-hairs or iron sights. It also takes a long time to reload.

However it has an odd effect on the cannibals. I assume this pistol is from some old shipwrecked adventurer that just went to town on them. When and however they died; the cannibals must of broke the pistol apart and buried them under big rocks. Yet, they still seem to all know of it and have a high level of respect of it when it is drawn on them. They often run for the hills if you fire just once despite having to take a while to reload it.

Once hard is out of experimental; this effect will hopefully be properly adjusted on that mode. Otherwise the cannibals aren't even a nuisance; often cowering or screaming in fear while running away.

This is because of the red paint all over your body. The pistol has no effects like this. Notice in the screen shot that your hands are red.

dont worry it's not a game changer at all so long to reload and ammo is just so limited also it aims like the flare gun,prety useless tbh

I wouldn't sweat it too much. It's hardly worth the time to collect. It's more of a decorative item at this point.

It can 1 shot kill most cannibals, and 1-2 shot kill larger humanoid pale dudes, but in the time it takes to reload, you could have killed a pack of 3 or more with the katana.

Just one quastion about this gun, how is it with ammo? Will ammo respawn all the time or is ammo limited?

so far no ammo has respawned as far as i know
tbh it's a waste of time,it aims like the flare gun so no real control
