does poison on weapons last forever?

title and what does it need? when I look at the icon for the poison I can't tell what that is. Is it jack o latern mushrooms?

Poisoned weapons can be made with a few different things: twinberries, snow berries, jack mushrooms, or amanita mushrooms. As for whether it lasts forever, it won't wash off in rain or water or anything like that but it does have a limited number of uses before the effect wears off on the weapon or arrow. For arrows it's pretty much a one time use though, but you do make multiple poison arrows each time you craft it.

You're better off making poison arrows, you get 5 poison arrows out of 1 crafting batch and it's ranged. I don't think poison damage stacks so using it on a melee weapon and whacking a cannibal repeatedly would waste the poison.
