You like to RP, in the Forest? Maybe alone? Lol.
The story is: a father lost his child, not a mother. U will find some hints in the game that your character is really male.
I'd be happier to be a stranger woman and adopt the human child. Obviously there isn't enough when there's no answer from the devs directly. There's nothing wrong with voicing a demand for a feature. If you think there''s something wrong with it, maybe question what's up with you.
Why will you try to play a mother adopted the son when this game in facts have a story about a father? That's totally weird, sorry.
So, deal with that.
Killdozer is totally right.
A female in multiplayer could have been an option.
I'm not saying that character gender diversity isn't something that's important. In terms of time to implement they already have female cannibals so the female character meshes are already built for the game, all they have to do is basically throw some clothes on them.
But given their small team size, how much time and money it takes to release a game of this quality, as well as the real threat of indie studio failure. It probably doesn't make a ton of business sense when they're looking at their feature backlog for their game that's currently in development to add more free avatars to a six year old game. I'll see if I can figure out how to make you a mod for it.
It makes sense because at the start the forest was a single player game. Multiplayer was a little "gift". So, the real lore is single player...
