The lighting is how I tell, there isn't a sun specifically but by judging the shadow angles and the color of surrounding lighting I can determine if it's late in the day and gauge whether or not I have time to venture out before dark
Yeah thats what im doing. Literally just picked up the game and on my first day, still trying to look for a place to set up and it got all "sun setty" on me. Was not prepared at all lmao.

Anyways, didnt know if maybe you find a watch at some point or what not.

Don't believe so, but this kinda makes you embrace the survival aspect. Doesn't take long before you learn how long a day roughly lasts, and you use the environmental lighting to guess the time. Lighting at dawn is very different from lighting at dusk, it also helps to try to sleep at the same time every evening
Cool. Thanks for the tips!

If you're out exploring, I recommend starting to head back home when it starts getting sunsetty, especially if you're far off from your base of operations. The lighting settings when not changed creates pitch black nights and are not fun to be caught in xD building a temporary shelter to get through the night saved me plenty of times

There is hand watch :D
You use it in crafting. (bombs)

It had "equip" option. (I didn't check if it has this option since 1.0)
But it didn't work :V I guess it's planned but not implemented ;D

Pay attention to the Sun/Moon position. You can guess the hour very easy.

In your support, with any of the watches to collect you'd think at least one would work & be wearable to tell time.

EDIT: could work - i will try to make a Sundial tomorrow

After messing around with a very Basic Sundial - I found out the game takes place somewhere in the Northern hemisphere. I build a little Flagpost (slightly bend to the north) what i can tell is - Sun moves every 30 min. in game Sunrise starts at 6 - Sunset is around 18 - You can mark every full hour with a stick.

YES! you can tell what time it is in the world XD starting at 6 o'clock then move on every 30min. in game time
i will try to create a Sundial near my house. Would make a nice decoration

if you look close enough, it shows the time on the top right of your gps locator

Wrong game friend, gps locator is in the sequel not the original game.

The Console is best used to keep track of time. Info's on this forum.

Yeah, what others have said. While it's frustrating that your "day" in whole is about 3-5 minutes long, you can chop down like 3-5 trees and build a whole cabin in a 'day" so the compression works in your favor as well as against you.

Indeed. Using the console, time can go as slow or quick as you prefer. Fortunately theres no time limits or set objectives that depends on completion within a time limit so time basically is irrelevant - except to players preference of time flow for more realism.
