Does the SOS even do anything?

I set an SOS signal, and when a plane flew by I shot multiple flares up and held my own flare up near the sign, but it really hasn't changed anything in the game.

I think it just so instead of saving Timmy you get resued still have to beat the end of the game you just don't have to get a live sacrifice. Once you leave the snow base i bet a heli or bouts come to save you idk not trying to spoil it for myself.

I think it's just there for immersion purposes, I've had it in place for more than 30 days and nothing noteworthy happened...

Just finished the game, did the emergency shutdown ending, and left the base with no noticeable differences. I'll keep trying to see if it does anything though.

It's a useless piece of crap created to increase the Survival Guide by a single page and initiate speculation plus rants. Thank god more time wasn't invested making something of Sanity as a stat or fixing bugs.
