The Forest or Rust?

Hi guys !! So I REALLY enjoy 7 Days to Die, and Ark. I am now on the hunt for another game like those 2, but a bit more 7 Days to Die-ish than Ark-ish. I don't really play them online though, what I do is start up a solo sandbox map, and just play it like a "survival" mode, start off by using my fists to gather resources and craft better stuff from there, all the while fending off zombies/dinos etc. I also usually start up a private server where me and my brother do the same, survive together and so forth.

So I'm looking for a game where I can do tthe whole solo/private server survivalal thing, so online play doesn't need to be good or balanced.

It seems like my 2 options are The Forest and Rust, they look the most appealing. Which of these 2 would you guys recommend? And why?

As long as I can play solo and with my brother on private servers I will almost already be sold on the game. What are your guys' opinions?

the forest for sure, but rust is more like dayz with crafting. The forest is story survival horror with co-op.

I've never played rust nor Dayz, but since I've seen my friend/youtubers/twitch streamers play both, probably suggest rust....well...I dunno if you could make private servers or not but...

Im a rust player ( or i was ). You could read my review of Rust if you like. I quit Rust when it became apparant is not a survival game unless you count avoiding being killed and losing everything to another player.

There is nothing to do in Rust unless you are aiming to kill and raid other players. No pve. No story. Nothing. The hunger and cold aspects of Rust are ignorable on a private server as everything is so abundant to eat and craft.

Hunger and cold aspects are ignorable in this game also because of...the almighty candy bar! (And waterskin) Oh and rabbitskin boots with an addition of a torch make cold nonexistent. Because if you've gotten that stuff you've got enough cloth from ravaging around the peninsula

If you are looking for something similar to 7 days to die i recomend The forest over Rust. Rust i think is more enjoyable but it's a pvp game with raiding. Animals are almost no threat and are only there to supply you with resources. The Forest is a survival game with co-op options.

Ive replied to the op's question in the Rust forum as well. As i said in that reply "ther is nothing to do in Rust on a private server after a single day".
Literally nothing. Everything you can craft is designed to raid other players bases and kill them. On a private server ther is literally no point in doing anything.

Oh and in the forest, people are either idiots that can't even fight one skinny,the MODAPI menu guy (Me), or the "pvp" guy that pretends he's in rust...

To OP - idk how it is in rust but in the forest you can easily host game, check that it is private (= only steam friends can join) set max players to 2 and just play. But remember both of you need to save at the shelter on multi.
Also if you like building then you will have good time with The Forest
(you can even disable enemies when they start to bother you)

To OP - idk how it is in rust but in the forest you can easily host game, check that it is private (= only steam friends can join) set max players to 2 and just play. But remember both of you need to save at the shelter on multi.
Also if you like building then you will have good time with The Forest
(you can even disable enemies when they start to bother you)

As a side note. If if you want to host a Rust server, public or not, you will have to pay for it.

Or you mean those dedicated servers in the forest which you can freely download on steam?
