I had to do the same when I got a new hard drive.
Just start a new game and save immediately. Close game, restart steam. Should work.
Thanks so much guys, both of you.As i understand the solution was a combination of both of your answers,i move the files from my old pc and also started a new game, saved and restarted steam. The old perk slot was replaced by the new one but i dont care about that slot,my other slots that have my most progress are right there. Thanks again guys!
1.) Download your save files from steam cache manually (https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorage) or get them from your Steam Installfolder/userdata/[UserId]/242760/remote.
2.) Do a new save so it makes all the necessary subfolders in AppData/LocalLow/SKS/TheForest. (The first subfolder has a name out of just numbers. I don't think thats the same for everyone). Of course it's the best to not save the new one on the slot you want to restore (have a look at the date of the files and pick the newest one)
3.) You will see it makes subfolders like "SinglePlayer" and "SlotX" that are the same that is also included in your 4 save file names. The files are named like "SinglePlayer_SlotX_..." you have to cut the filenames until that second underscore and put them in the subfolders with those names instead. (Carefull the __RESUME__ file sould really have only 2 underscores to begin with, but of course it has 3 between SlotX and Resume).
After a reload it was happy gaming for me. Hope it helps.
I did that for an hour or two before I tried to save a game and then saw that the previous save files with their thumbnails were now showing up in their appropriate slots.
