Bird in hand: good or bad sign?
I've read conflicting things online. Some people say a bird landing on your hand indicates danger nearby. Other people say birds only land on your hand if everything is peachy.

From my own experience, which is three mutant encounters so far, it definitely was a danger indicator. But I'd love to hear about other people's experiences.

Would surprise me if it has anything to say at all. You can even initiate it with a key.

By far the most I've heard is that it means literally nothing

This. I've not had it indicate anything one way or the other.

I think it just happens when you don't touch the controls for a while.

Well, it happened again. For the record, I'm being stealthy and avoiding confrontation, and all the times a bird has showed up, I was already watching/stalking cannibals nearby. So if there is a link between cannibals being around and the birds (and at this point i'm sure there is) it's not very useful. But it's cute. It helps ease the tension a little bit.

It doesn't indicate anything. It's just an idle animation loop.

Well, it's worth two in the bush.

I'm 180 days deep, and I have never noticed any patterns between the bird and danger. I have noticed, however, that it seems to happen less when you've been eating a steady diet of avians.
