My axe doesnt seem to hit anything

I get the axe from the plane but cant seem to find the sweet spot to hit small trees and bushes for sticks, and definitly cant seem to hit enemys. please advise

That's just odd.

You should have no problems hitting anything, unless you're trying to hit things when you're on zero Stamina.

It's not much of a spoiler, but there are other - better - axes in the game, with a longer reach. You will also do more damage when you get your strength up. Best way to do that, apart from chopping trees, is just swinging a bone or a stick.

Also,

in the early game, you're really not well equiped to take on cannibals. Your best way, is headshots with the bow, but melee, I'd try to avoid early on.

Get your strenght up, make traps to catch them, and make armor of their bones. It's hard to avoid fighting them in caves, so fighting them with more strength, more Stamina, with armor, and with a better axe will help you.

i know its odd its like im maybe using the wrong settings..
Whenever i hit a small tree or bush it swings right thru the middle and not hit anything.

A small bush, you should cut down - but gain nothing from it, unless you get leaves from it - I'm not sure. Small tress(very small trees), you should get 2 or 3 sticks from. Trees, 4 logs.

It's not a good axe, but you can upgrade with Glass(or Teeth), and tree sap. I use a better axe, that does more damage, and has more range - but I upgrade that with feathers, to make it faster.

Are you using a mouse and keyboard?

That's what I use, and I don't have any problem. Do you want to know where the best axe is?

I'm going to try with the Plane Axe, see how hard it is.
