New mutant spotted

Before they form (each piece seem to be able to attack)

So as you can deduce with the screenshots, they can take many forms, I have not seen the pillar one that we see in the trailer. When it was flying, it seemed passive, though it didn't last long enough for me to confirm that.
When it is in a formation and you attack it, they all separate and you can kill them one by one, but they will quickly take another formation.
The dead worms are unlootable

First instance it attacked me, it formed into a pillar at least 3-4 times and kept bodyslamming me until it decided to change into the other forms. I imagine this would be an absolute nightmare on hard survival.

Another thing to clarify: They WILL attack even in flying mode. What I wanna know are the names of these things. For now I will call them "god sausage". I never thought a game could make something like that scary.

Encountered two of these things on hard survival. The "Megan" one moves fast and can knock you down if you're not fast enough to avoid it, even can inflict quite a bit of damage if you don't have enough armor. Its HP is a lot less than the boss itself though as it only took me a couple of modern arrows to bring it down.

The 2nd one, it bypassed a wall and destroyed some of my log and rock holders, though it didn't destroy said stone wall.

The worms though, my first and only encounter so far was more difficult. It seems like there is a "core" that controls them. It won't stop attacking unless you run or kill the "core".

I've been trying to use molotovs and explosives and I can't say for certain as of yet but I'm not sure they were that effective in combating them.

I think you have to beat the game and choose to not bring down the airplane and shut down the artifact . Right now, I am around day 500+ and I encountered two of these new mutants.
