No rain ... no water in Collectors
Hi,
just started playing a few days ago and I´m not on day 17... I build a water collector with some turtle shells and they contained water after a rain but since a few "game days" there was hardly any rain and when It rained there was no water present in my collectors. That appears strange to me... is it a bug? I know I can cook water with the pot but those collectors are so convenient. Is the location of the collector important?

No it´s not a bug, this thing just makes the game harder cause the water from collectors vanishes somehow and if it doesn´t rain, just wait and it´s gonna start to.

I've found that you have to be in the 'render' area with the collectors when it rains for them to fill. What I mean is if my collectors are say up at the north end of the map, and I'm at the very south end when it rains, the game doesn't render the north area items. You can see the effect if you're somewhere where you can see a long distance, but you won't see objects until you get closer to them via the view distance setting.

Could that be what's happening in your case? If you're standing right next to one when it rains and it's not filling after a couple of minutes, then ya.... something's obviously not right. You could verify your game files via Steam to make sure all's good there - but i have not seen peeps posting about water collectors being bugged...... at least not recently.

Sounds logical, nobbers. Will try to stay close to the collector next time it rains and observe... thanks
I personally wonder why they haven't put in some sort of way to store water yet. Sure, you can go hunting for soda, but the ability to store water should be a pretty basic essential. Like, maybe give us empty cans and bottles from soda and booze so we can use those to store water?
I know they don't want to make the game TOO easy, but logic's gotta enter into it at some point.

lol, the feature isnt even working as intended and yes its actually a persistence bug just like berries dissapear all together as well as dried meat becomes burnt on a rack.

you dont even know what youre talking about, this has nothing to do with difficulty

Well, you can craft a water skin out of a couple deer skins and a rope, but only one..... which is kind of silly.

Do you remember how you poked the turtle with arrows or spear before you killed it?
Those small holes you made cause the water to slowly dissapear from collectors once you collect some of it.
It's not bug, it's game design.

The burned stuff on rag (or dissapearing) are bugs

The fact that you need in the range of collectors when it rains is caused by people crying "MY FPS, DON'T GENERATE STUFF THAT IS OUTSIDE OF MY RANGE", devs could leave it as option but who knows how much would it cost toa add such option

My brain must be suffering the same bug, hopefully won't appear burnt once I take a look inside or vanished completely

Hit boxes on land turtles are so bad that he ends with the arrow on his shell rather than head, only the water turtle's hitboxes work good, but what if you live in the middle of island rather than on beach ;c

Land turtle??????????????

The water disappearance is hard-coded because it's "evaporation" (even though that isn't realistic). The meat turning burned on the drying racks might even be hard coded to give you a visual indication of age. But yes stuff does indeed disappear when not rendered and the water collectors don't work when they're out of range. They also tend to not work when any part of them is overlapping with anything else.

You have old pot with water and waterskin with water, those 2 are enough to survive about 2 weeks in the forest (if you skip sleeping and don't use up it instantly)
+ berry pouch
