Can you save a game ?

New to this game . How does one save ? I see the slots but nowhere to save . Tired of having to start all over each time .. Appreciate the help .

Not VR . On PC running Win 10 . No F5 save . Single player .

You need to build a shelter, or a bed. There's also a couple of bigger structures you can use (log cabin), but they take more resources and are kind of expensive for just using as a save point.

Just hit 'B' and check through the survival guide.

Thank you . So to get this straight I have to reach certain mileposts to save . Does the game do it automatically ?

No autosaves. Just build yourself a cool little base with a cabin of sorts and throw a bed in it. Most peeps build a central base so they can set themselves up and protect themselves, and then go on exploratory raids for resources, and return when threatened or to sleep the night away...

Just to clarify for you a little more.

Any of these shelters will allow you to save/sleep (note: the first shelter will collapse once you sleep in it) - https://theforest.gamepedia.com/File:SurvivalBook(Shelter).png

The bed also allows you to save/sleep (bottom left) - https://theforest.gamepedia.com/File:SurvivalBook(Furniture).png

There are a number of existing locations in the game which will also allow you to save.

you dont even need to build a thing. game has small tents all over the place that you can save at

Temporary shelters are good for quick saves because they're very easy to build but they don't last. You should build a base with a shelter or bed.

You can also literally just type save into the console and it will save.

The buildings you can build don't have to have a bed added as there is already a spot in them to sleep and save in them. You can also find tents around the island that you can sleep and save at as well.
