What's the point of happy birthday traps?
Hey there! =)
I just got the game a few days ago and enjoy it a lot. I like to play very defensively and to set up traps at my base. However, I wonder why I should keep building happy birthday traps. I mean they look very cool at least but according to the wiki the deadfall traps deal the same damage and they are much cheaper, too. Furthermore deadfall traps work from both sides and happy birthday traps can be dodged from one. So is there any reason to build a happy birthday trap instead of a deadfall trap?

It's cost-efficient area denial. When the trap is sprung, it becomes a wall. Good for stalling.

Sure it's not as good against muties, but the size in relation to the logs it requires is better.

No idea what you mean by this though.

Thank you for your answer! :)
Cannibals can dodge the trap damage by running through from the inner side, that*s what I meant. :)

Happy Birthday traps cover a lot more area. Cannibals are more likely to trigger a HB than a Deadfall which means more dead cannibals. They also serve as walls once they go off, I like to build stone walls with HB's as part of the wall.

They can but cannibals shouldn't be getting on that side of the trap. Walls and more HB traps solve that. Deadfalls are fine I use them too when I'm out of rope and low on cloth.

I have see Virginias die as a result of continously running into a Happy Birthday trap as I keep resetting it. She had to spring it 5 or 6 times. I have also seen a previously damaged cow man end it by charging a Happy Birthday trap. So yes - they can damage mutants.
