You really don't even need a base, that part is more or less for fun. But even if you did everything and stretched it out in this game it's roughly a 20 hour run tops ........... From a group of 4 people over a span of years ........ I've seen better from a single teenager.
Edit -> So no people aren't saying it lacks content because they are getting lost in the rather basic and fairly broken building aspect, there just plain isn't much to do and it's a very short game.
Name those games created by a teenager which are this awesome.
People always massively exaggerate how low a games play time can be. Im at 30 hours and probably havent explored half of the caves, and i certainly havent done half of what you can do with building thins aboveground.
They're meaningless comparisons. There are a lot of people here who love the game and get a lot of mileage out of it. Our enjoyment of the game doesn't help the dissatisfied any, so why should it work the other way around?
1. console commands
2. guide that explains which command to use in order to see everything fast and get everything
For normal players who don't use console/guide it would be 40-60H to see all content depending how fast they do it and taking into account that they target to see the content :V
If they don't target content then it will take longer to see everything.
Also 1H to beat story is for weak speedrunners :D
Completing hard mode in 30-40min is good time (you have to start in good landing location tho, but when you speedrun then you take it into account to spawn in good location)
If you use turtle sled then you can cut it even more.
Recording/Uploading it all as well. I meticulously search each cave for any changes.
So yes I agree 100%
To many ppl just skip all caves then complain about lack of content. I find the cave system is pretty awesome. I think I will get VR just for that reason lol.
Has anyone beat the boss on either hard mode with one life? (Spamming bombs shouldn't count)
Now it shouldn't be too hard tho, the 1500 armor is OP and we have spear bag to spam ;d
I've never been a fan of the spear tossing :).
200 hours. Have never advanced the story nor seen all the caves.
He did use a glitch lol, he jumped into the sinkhole. There is no way you can get to end game in 15 legit. Maybe 30-45min+.
Also bringing speed runs of any kind to a content related post is just dumb.
the guy who made owlboy by himself.
it's not that hard.
You're comparing a simple pixel game
https://store.steampowered.com/app/391540/Undertale/
to full blown 3d world game.
Now, programming even a "simple" 2d pixel game is rather difficult (speaking from experience).
I realize the tarded newgen keedz these days have zero appreciation and understanding of how the world works, but since it is so simple to do, I challenge you to
program the simplest game - PONG.
2 paddles, one on top guided by AI, one on bottom guided by player using keyboard.
Go!
@Wuyek and adding on to Roadie's list
+Unturned - Despite it's cartoony graphics it's definitely the most popular f2p survival game on steam. Though I think he did hire another guy to help out beyond V3.
Eclipse
Speedruns are great for this actually, since they don't get sucked into oops a cannibal broke my wall so I better fix and reinforce it (Time sinks.)
Wariat
Only one speedrun was 1hr and I merely listed it since it was a post release video, you want better quality videos spend more than the 10 seconds I spent searching. Also you need console commands to know where to go next why? Surely you meant google "Forest map" and oila. xD
Iceki
I agree it feels like little got done. I just tried this a couple/few months ago and a bunch of the issues my group had are still there, with some new ones to boot, and lower over all performance.
Gottaramble
You should get to the exploring. Once you get geared with katana and such it'll be over before ya know it.
Ghostlight
My dude, that's a really strange choice of survival game to spend so much time in. What do you do, RP a lonely old man on his porch or something?
I think that about wraps that up, took longer to post this than build a base in this game. xD
To be honest though purposely dragging out the base vs cannibals portion of the game doesn't really count as "content." Like if a racer thinks the last race of Need For Speed is worth re-doing 1500 times that doesn't mean it's 1500*3 minutes of content. Just means he really enjoys repeating that 3 minutes of content.
Edit -> I'm just gonna drop this here
