How to put meat on drying rack?

Built it, hunted a deer and butchered it, but I stand before the rack and nothing happens

Did you take the actual meat from the deer or just the skin? If you have meat in your inventory, an icon should pop up when you look at the rack

Perhaps it doesn't work with 'small meat' ?

no, you can´t dry small meat, but deer should give 4 dryable pieces
