Better light source?

Just bought the game and found a cave and explored it. It was really dark in there. I understand the lighter is not a good light source, but I figured out how t make a torch and it didn't like any better than the lighter did. Is there a better light source I can get or does the game just have a very poor lighting engine?

There's a flashlight to find in the caves but it uses batteries and they're quite rare.
What i usually do is switch to another color grading in the caves like M131 or Blockbuster.
Also try to hold a burning molotov. Works a little better than the torch imo

Agreed with Andi, albeit sadly. Prior to the most current updates, I could run around The Forest day or night or caves with just one light setting and make do. That doesn't seem to work very well anymore. I prefer Epic or Original by Day, and maybe Super by night or in caves. I really wish I had the knowledge and language to express what needs to be changed so I don't have to alter reality to make the games darker environments playable beyond "Tweak it back a bit."

The torches provided a good light source, but unfortunately they got nerfed in the last few days. Very disappointing, because they got nerfed too much and are almost useless in the caves or in the night now.
