How do you collect water??

I, for the life of me, can't figure out how to collect water.. I have the pot and the water skin. I've tried going to the ocean and looking down at the water and nothing. I went to the pond near the plane and I tried looking down at the water with both the skin and the pot and neither did anything. tried pressing 'e' while looking at the water in the pond and nothing. Don't know what I'm missing. I read in the forums that an icon that looks like lips will appear when looking at the water but I don't see one..

you can bring the pot to the pond and press E
or you can make somekind of water collectior using a turtle shell ( im forget the name sry ) its collect water from rain , make like 3 or 4 of it
well about water skin, im also kinda glitchy when trying to collect water from pond the ( E ) wont appear sometimes

i think you need to be at just the right angle, and i'd imagine you can only do it in certain ponds like the fish ones. You can usually tell which ones are which since the fish ones usually have basic spears sticking out of it and a few fishes swimming around in it. Thou if you build a water collector you can collect from that using water skin or pot. While not much use since you can drink straight from it, having some fresh water on you is always nice. And lets you see how the icon looks.

(Not sure if you knew but if you kill turtles that you find near the beach you can collect their shells, and you can combine that with 4 sticks to make a water catcher which will fill up with water next time it rains.)

How anyone can carry a pot full of water in a backpack without securing - I just dont know!!!

Make a water collector with a turtle shell and sticks, works very well, just kinda sucks cause it needs to rain in order to fill up, but it is 100% clean so you wont get an illness from it

I drink pond water all the time. Ive noticed in stats says sick - take Aloe plant but I never do.
Has far as I see, nothin occurs. What affects is illness supposed to give?

Illness reduces your strength.

The best way to conserve water is to make a few turtle shell water collectors (they are in the book) and then use the water skin on the water from the turtle shell. Drink from the water skin and refill from the turtle shell.

This will reduce the amount of water that is used from the turtle shells making them last longer.

Somtimes it does not rain for days.
