How to destroy Crane?

I was testing how the crane would work. Built it in the middle of the base knowing it would be destroyed like any other object with axe. But that didn't work for some reason. How would you destroy a finished crane?

Yes . Even tried adding 2 new defense walls intersecting with it so it would maybe destroy with it when I use the hole cutter.

Funny thing, even that didn't work. Now it's sitting in between the base and it looks bad

Try to build a platform behind it and then demolish that platform. In my case i couldnt remove the platform without losing the crane too by the flying wreckage pieces.

I tried that as well. Ended up going back to old save file losing an hour of progress. Grinding is back on. Feels good already seeing an empty space in between rather than a huge crane.
