How to play with VR

I have the Oculus Rift. At one point I was trying out the VR for fun and it was working. I was in game for only about 5 minutes. Just wanted to see what it looked like in VR. Later I went back to The Forest in VR and I couldn't even select Single Player. In fact, I couldn't select anything. I've done some reading of people saying "try this....try that" and nothing seemed to work.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get The Forest to play in VR??

Launch it through steam VR. You cant see single player or you see it and the controller isn't working.

It's odd. I'll launch it through SteamVr. When the main menu comes up, I see both hand controllers. The right handed controller has a 'laser light' to show me where the pointer is. I put it on Single Player but none of the buttons on either left or right controller do anything. However, if I point to Single Player and grab my XBox controller, it will allow me to load up the game. That's all it will do though. Once I'm in, I can't pick anything up with either the hand controllers or the XBox controller. I can open the survival guide with the right controller but I can't close it or put it away nor place anything on the ground.

It's possessed.

Disconnect the Xbox controller and restart pc and relaunch.

I unplugged the XBox dongle, restared pc and tried again. Didnt' work. If I click on The Forest from steam library, it gives me 2 options. Start in normal mode or start in VR mode. Of course I selected VR mode. It takes me to the main menu of The Forest and that's as far as it gets. Again, it will not let me click on Single Player (or MP for that matter).

It's so bizarre because the very first time I tried it worked and I was in the game for about 5 minutes. Long enough for me to grab the axe, food, pills, and drinks. I stepped out of the plane and knocked open some suitcases. I even chopped down a tree. Since then though I can't get into the game.

So frustrating :( Anyone have any other ideas that I can try?

Are the controllers showing connected in Steam vr? Strange I play with a wmr headset it's not even supported and I've never had any issues. Have you tried reinstalling the game?

make sure your tabbed into the game on your desktop

Mysteryio....I haven't tried reinstalling the game. The controllers do show up on both the SteamVR and my Oculus home.

Cupcake, I *think* I'm tabbed into the game, but after the reinstall, I'll double check and make sure that I'm actually tabbed into the game from the desktop.

Hello I've got the Quest 2 VR Set as I wanted to know if I can use that for the forest or do I have to get the rift version

i play fine with no changes quest2 just works airlink or cable.

my pc is a 3080 ti laptop. runs everything but the laggy book well too. that book is a monster

Thanks for letting me know about it as I ordered my Link cable for my Quest 2 so I'll be using that when it arrives
