How in the world do i craft a mobile source of light that last longer than 1 minute?
I tried adding fire to everything but the fire always fades at around 1 minute. Is there a way to create a torch or something that lasts? cause the nights and caves are dark as hell :lunar2019madpig:

No you used to be able to.put boose on torches to make them burn longer not anymore.

Flashlight and lighter . if you ahve trouble switch color pallete to m131.
Make skull lamps around your camp

On one of my saves I built rock paths all over the map between locations with skull lamps every 50 feet or so. Those cannibals were not fans of my road work project.

I believe the longest lasting fire is the bonfire, but the bonfire does also increase the enemies aggression and it requires logs so not the most helpful in caves. The skull lamps are permanent lighting, dimmer than most others but they don't require fuel to work.
Both of those are stationary though, for mobile light your options are the torch which you'll constantly need to reapply cloth to, the lighter which is relatively little light and randomly goes out sometimes, or the plastic torch/flashlight that requires batteries.
The flashlight is the most helpful in caves, and you can farm the batteries if you need to. Any cave that spawns a flashlight will respawn it when you exit and re-enter the cave, collecting a flashlight when you have one already gives batteries instead.
Alternatively you can mess around with your color gradient settings to find one that makes caves a bit less akin to black holes. I've seen different players recommend different settings so I usually just encourage people to try it out for themselves until they find a good one.

There is also a cave/night brightness setting somewhere.ive used skull lamps in caves to mark paths that ive been down it also brightens it up a bit.

I also remembered there is the option of using flares as well, but I wouldn't rely on them for your main source of cave lighting. They are fairly bright but you can only carry a limited amount at a time, the spawn points for them are fairly scattered but decently plentiful for restocking at least, they don't last very long, and if you toss them and they land in water they burn out which is unfortunate considering how many caves have shallow pools of water throughout them. They are far more situational, like tossing them into a big open cave chamber to see what wants to eat you inside.

I personally find it frustrating myself; I just wish the torch lasted longer. There is hardly any purpose to it since you can fire upgrade your weapons. I dislike having to open my inventory so much. I build skull lamps everywhere as well. I have fireplaces in my longer buildings that I just add fire pits to, it lights it up a fair amount with a few ceiling accents. Once you find the flashlight though, you'll be golden :3

I got the flashlight but the light is kinda dim and too focused so it doesnt illuminate my surroundings only an especific lil area.
