gather Logs 0/180? but 2 at the time

I am new and in multiplayer dedicated servers i have some stick and stones to gather on bottom left screen, one says gather X amount of logs but i can hold 2 at the time. One server was asking for 180 Logs and each time i gather 2 it will be 2/180 then i drop them to pick up some more and it goes to 0/180 and back up to 2/180, any advise?

I dont fully understand the question, but i will try to guess lol. If you meant why is there 180 logs and you arent building anything? It does NOT separate individually to each players build requirements, like you need X logs, she needs X logs and he needs X logs. It means someone else has put a blueprint down to build and it lets ALL players know what you need.

If you are asking for a better way than 2 at a time (which is why it changes 2/180 as you are carrying 2 to put into the build). Then use the log sled or a zipline to transport much more logs fast. For the zipline, just make sure you build it aiming down at where you want the logs transported too. A friend of mine yesterday thought you could make them go up too lol.

Lastly, beware of the zipline. You need to have a friend to collect them at the bottom or you need to build something around it to contain them (like a room), as they have a tendency to do this!

thx for replying, but no its just that bottom left of screen it says 0/6 sticks 0/10 stones and few more things like leafs and then you got, Gather logs 0/180. I completed all the others but how am i going to gather 180 logs if each time i place some in a holder or what not, it dosnt add up on the quest log...

not in my single player, but 2 dedicated servers i started had that , at the bottom left of screen, 6 gather quests. leaf, stones and such, i really dont udnerstand how come you dont know what i am talking about!:D

while you hold the logs it will say you have 2 of the 180 needed to build the blueprints currently in the world (whether you placed that blueprint or someone else did). Adding those logs to a holder, log sled, zipline, or otherwise won't apply them to the build since you didn't add them to the blueprint that needs them. If you do find the blueprint that requires logs and add them to that the total needed logs will begin to decline, so once you add them you will likely see 0/178 instead of 2/180 because those 2 logs now count towards the build and you are empty handed.
As Jamesfle mentioned, it counts blueprints across the entire world, regardless of who placed them so it may not be a build you set up, but usually an active build will have a hammer icon on it to mark what still needs to be built (if it's far away you might not see it until you get closer).

it's not quest log, it's building (aka blueprint)
get logs, carry them to building location, press E, the "180" will go down, repeat until it hits 0


(it accumulates logs from multiple buildings so you need to build them all in order to make it dissapear, the same goes for sticks/stones, once you build the building, the info will dissapear)

tyvm for the repplys, i guess iam way to new i understood half of that but i think its a MP thing now yea, not quests as you guys said. All working towards a build, i do see purple flags in the world in MP games. I will just keep at it see were it leads me. i am really interested in playing on a dedicated MP server but iam way to new atm. ty again.

i tought i had to build my own shelter and work towards it, maybe teres a comunity one or what not, maybe its the total of shelters in the world required attention?

180 logs is probably not a shelter but whole base or huge house/fortress

the logs will stay at 2 once you add them to the ghost (building blueprint)
so if you pick up 2 logs , it will show you have collected 2 logs, if you drop the two logs, it will go back to 0. but if you add the two logs to your blueprint, it will stay at 2 and the next 2 you pick up will change it to 4 etc. until the structure is built. i think it only does this for logs because its not an inventory item, where as sticks,leaves stones etc, are inventory items.

also, a useful suggestion....build a log cart...its easily one of the most useful tools in the game.
