how can force 32 bit version?
I want run this game in 32 bit version, but for default the 64 bit version is running. How i can do this? Is possible configuring in "Set Launch Options" in Steam or i will have to go at locale of "theforest32.exe" e run of there.

I'm a little bit late, but you have to right click the game, then properties>General>Initializing options and type this: -force32

I looked around and found this, however ive not tested this. If you would prefer to force to run as 32-bit, you can do so like this:
right click the game in your Steam Library and select "Properties"
  • click "set launch options"
  • type "-force32" into the box (without the quotes) and press OK
  • close the properties window and launch the game as normal.

OR

Just create a shortcut onto the desktop. Right click it, create shorcut... drag that from the folder to desktop. Done. :)

I already have shortcut in desktop and tried using "-force32" but this method failed. (I wish Steam could be used normally within the game..)
thanks anyway

You could add 32bit the forest as "game outside of steam", but then all hours wouldn't go to The Forest + achievements wouldn't work

I tried to swap the 32-bit executable file with 64-bit as suggested, and an error occurred while trying to run it. I looked at the game files, and I realized that some of them are specific to the two versions.
Thank you anyway.

I didn't test it but he said that he renamed only 64bit (so game can't find it), he didn't say anything about replacement.

i havent actually done what i said.. i merely suggested it.. i run the 64 bit version .. but one would assume that renaming the file would make the game default to the 32bit version.. ill test it out

edit.. so it turns out if u simply rename the 64bit exe the game fails to launch.. also renaming the 32bit exe to what the 64bit exe was named forces steam to update the exe files before launch.. so im sorry but it seems there isnt a way to force 32bit play on a 64bit system

I'll be more specific. I've renamed the 32-bit executable to be game standard. (excluding "32" from the file name). Did not work.
I also tried just renaming 64 bit executable, but it did not work either.
But okay, I'll run it the standard way anyway. :-)

I can't test it because owner of the game plays something, but did you try to:
Rename "TheForest32_Data" into "TheForest_Data" Rename "steam_api.dll" into "steam_api64.dll" Rename "TheForest32.exe" into "TheForest.exe"
At once? 2 Errors were probably because you didn't rename all three of them :D

Right click the game on Steam Library, and press The Forest 32-bit.
