Black Screen On Startup

Everytime I start The Forest, I am greeted by a black screen with the title music playing. The steam overlay prompt appears in the bottom right hand corner, and glitches out:

The program doesn't crash, and the screen stays like this until I close the program.

After searching around for a solution, I haven't been able to find anything that works. I have given the game half an hour on the black screen to see if it would load past it, but that didn't work. I've tried messing around with compatibility settings and updating drivers, restarting my pc, uninstalling and reinstalling the game, but nothing has worked.

i7-4790 3.60GHz CPU
16GB RAM
GeForce GTX 1070 GPU
1920x1080, 60Hz Display
64-bit Operating System
Windows 10 Version 1709 (Fall Creators Update)

Verify the game just to be sure, even though u unistalled and reinstalled. Goto your steam game library, right click the forest, properties, local files and verify there. If this doesnt do it, i know u are up to date on ur graphics drivers. Download them again, this time, CUSTOM install them and tick the "Clean Install" box. Now?

I was having this same problem and couldn't find anything online. I figured it was a resolution thing but tried changing the games to no result. Then i changed my monitors to 720p launched the game (game at 1080) and it worked, then i changed my screen back to 1080 and launched again (1080) and it worked fine

OMG THANYOU SO MUCH!!!!!! I had this same problem but I thought it was only me. Thanks for the advice for changing the resolution! It fixed mine too

This worked, thanks so much!!!

computer resolution from 1920x1080 to 1280x1024 then play the game in 1920x1080.
The game should work now. You then revert your display back to 1920x1080.

computer resolution is found by right clicking on your desktop and clicking 'display settings'

tryed changing resolutios, verify the files still DON`T work :(

if anyone is still having this issue and your on AMD go into your adrenalin settings and make sure AMD freesync is DISABLED, fixed it for me

just turn off the G-sync from nvidia control pannel or just put the monitor technology to fixed refresh and it will work

i tried to change res and it didnt work then i right clicked on the forest went to manage click on browse local files and i click on theforest32 in the files
