You can also use 1 poisonous mushroom.

you find the katana you need 4 twinberries to make it poisonous not sure if the effect is permanent or needs to be redone every now and again

One poison (i.e 4 twinberries or 1 poisonous shroom) gives the katana the poisonous upgrade for 1 hit. Give it 10 shrooms or 40 twinberries and it'll last 10 hits (I think that's how it works)
