water catcher on house boat not filling
I have two water catchers on my house boat. I've placed them on the front porch area. The problem is they are not filling up when it rains.

Boats / rafts = Buggy AF, for adding storage on. Its like its game data goes missing and u cant pickup or use items on them. Especially if u move them. Maybe data gets left behind in the exact position it was, before u moved it.

Either way, dont use boats to live on. Build on an island if u must, where u cant move it.

Not surprising. As the object in question is mobile it is generally harder for the game to process.

Rule of thumb, dont try to build a water base.

It is buggy apparently. Seven or so rain storms and nothing, but then they both did finally fill up. No idea why this time they worked.

I am so fond of the house boat I'll just live with the inconvenience and hope it gets fixed at some point.

Why not just place some at a few strategically placed docks as a workaround for now?

Absolutely. I've done just that. But since you have to be sorta near a water catcher for it to fill up, I wanted to have a couple on the house boat since those would be traveling with me.

"Store" turtle shells on your houseboat by placing the blueprint for a water collector (make sure there are no sticks in your inventory) and then placing the turtle shell, but not completing it. Do that for as many shells as you want to pack. Since the blueprint isn't complete, you can stack them as close as you want.

When you need to place a water collector, cancel the blueprint and get your shell back. That way you can dot water collectors where you need them without hunting turtles first. Should make the process less painful

(Credit goes to Farket for that trick, though he does it for rope with skull lights. If you haven't seen his YouTube, you should. He also runs the wiki)

Unfortunately you don't get the turtle shell back!

You should, unless you're breaking an already completed blueprint. Any partially completed blueprint returns any resources added to it when cancelled.

Nope, sorry. Test it out for sure though. You actually only get back a portion of the materials and in the case of the turtle shell it could be it rounds down to zero.
