Quick Select on Controller

Is it just me or does quick select does not work on the controller?

Even if i define them by getting the items on the backpack, the four directions on the pad are still inventory, book, walkie talkie and lighter.

I figure there must be a modifier like holding some other button for the quick select to work but no combination seems working.

Anyone knows if have a bug issue or if this just isnt working properly yet?

I really like the pad controls besides that annoyance having to go to inventory to change items. Thank god thats actually pausing the game.

You have to hold Left trigger while using the D-pad to access the quick select
