Thanks !
Can you host a server locally (on your pc) for your friends or do you have to join public servers ?
There's no dedicated servers yet so the host have to be in game at all times. If the host leaves then all players are kicked immediately.
When the host saves in the game, it saves the progress of the world and the hosts playerdata, other players have to save for themselves in order to keep their progress since this is not saved on the server.
Is this working or are there often synchronization issues ?
Thanks for your help !
Yes, I'm sure I had saved my own character MULTIPLE times as this was a 9 hour play session. I save probably 5 times during the day every day on average. I'm aware of how saving works. The saving system isn't perfect, and I've had friends experience the same thing.
Do you think I would get every possible item in the game except the Katana and not save once?
This confirms that your save is actually still there, let us know if it is or isn't
This happened like a month ago, so I'll ask the host to find that for me when I get home if that'll help you try and pinpoint a bug.
It only happened to me once, and it was about a 7 hour play session when we stopped. Got on the next day and my inventory was reset to spawn stuff, except I was in the exact same position I was when logged back in. It happened to one of our other friends on the server as well, but it was only a one time issue that we were able to remedy fairly easily by trading stuff to each other, having me save my progress, and then the host quit to keep his inventory while mine was able to keep all the stuff he gave to me. That's an exploit I used to fix the problem, also probably a decent idea to let you know about that in case that's a bug you'd like to squelch as well.
Oh, We were worried something came up with the update.Thank you for specifying that it had actually happened quite some time ago. (If you do see it again, etc let us know here though as it sounds like a rather annoying bug)
Sure thing! Thanks for actually being involved in the discussions too. Keep up the great work guys
It's not exactly clear that each player have to save their own progress, I was just trying to help.
I understand that, but coming off as superior and condescending while offering help tends to piss people off. You offered the most mundane suggestion in a way where it seemed like you were under the impression I'm a complete idiot and wouldn't have the common sense to know how save files work? Offering "help" while coming off as a condescending dickshit comes off as you just, you know, being a dickshit
