From the .exe it will look like this: "D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\TheForestDedicatedServer\TheForestDedicatedServer.exe"
I already uninstalled and reinstalled both the Game and DS Tool, but no cigar.
Hopefully someone figures this out :/
"-dedicated" so it looks now like:
"C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\TheForestDedicatedServer
\TheForestDedicatedServer.exe" -dedicated
with that, essentially it fixed my unjoinable server, in the LAN tab for joining games, that originally had the error message saying it was unjoinable due to Server Version Mismatch with current patch of the game.
Now it is in the online tab and works perfectly.
Don't know if that helps, but that was what got me through it.
I still cannot get it to the right version.
if you wanna double check open command prompt (windows key + r) and type cmd, then type "ipconfig" and enter, IPv4 should be your correct IP and then just add ":27015" afterwards.
Pretty sure @Police Man you got that all down.
Make sure the shortcut you got was from the original .exe file in your C drive, not from steam.
I also linked my steam server account, don't know if that helped but I did it anyways.
The info can be found here: https://steamcommunity.com/dev/managegameservers
You just paste your Steam Server ID into the field in the .cfg file
Hmmmm, trying to think of anything else.
I did have a lot of trouble with the port forwarding, had to eventually reset my router back to default but finally got it working.
Final step I did was uninstall and reinstall both the Forest and Dedicated Server tool, then restart computer and router.
It seems like this issue has a lot to do with steam just not updating the Tool to the necessary patch, so getting past that requires going around steam from the looks of it.
Good luck
This fixed my issue with the version but cant play because not the correct steam setup! GRRRRRRRRR
