The map he linked you can look at places where people have suggested you build as well, i dont know why i didnt link that to begin with lol
Guess you missed the part where I reported that I was playing on Normal mode and this still happens no matter where I put our base. I've tried yacht beach, yacht clifftop, waterfall cave, across from the cockpit, around the cliff where the synamite cache is and the cliff above katana cave. Same result everywhere. The attacks are quite literally constant which is why I think it is a bug. There is no let up whatsoever, from dawn to dusk. Not hard in any way, just annoying because you can't get anything built. Furthermore, a minimum of 3 bosses come in a group about once a day as well. Been like this since day #2. Kinda boring. This game used to build up the suspense and dread brilliantly, now it's Left for Dead.
Please try reading the thread. This mostly happens in co-op and it happens EVERYWHERE. Nothing to do with patrol routes. I am well aware where the patrols are after hundreds of hours.
I have acctually had one place that was not to many cannibals in coop, on a place where you expect it to be many. Down with the ocean, on the north side of the cliff with the yacht, slighlty more north from the camping tent. Also that camping tent was perfect for saving and sleeping in the start. There was some canibals a few times ofc, but far from as many as expected and much less then on the other places that was safe places before...
Edit: Since my sense of direction is awefull and my explenations are just as bad. https://theforestmap.com/#924.5,922.1 then I'll add this...
Yes the problem - and it IS a problem no matter what the fanboys chime in with, it feels totally broken to the extent I believe it is a bug in the spawning algorithm - seems to only occur in co-op. I started a single player to experiement and built in the same place, and it was fine. You can tell immediately when it happens. You can see the next patrol of 8 to 12 cannibals appearing in the far distance just as the current group of 8 to 10 have arrived at your base. Then it is constant for the entire day. The only way to get it to stop is to sleep (which is dumb in itself). After that it stops for a short time, then re-starts all over the next day.
I played hundreds of hours of co-op of this game, as I reported and I've had bases in many many places over that time. I know the game inside out. It has never, ever been like this. It is utterly tedious. These attacks are not remotely difficult or challenging, I want to stress that, they simply prevent you from getting anything done as they do not stop.
Ghostlight I have the same problem EXACTLY. its annoying
I moved to the ( Largest Island South-East down past where the river ends coming off from the Cockpit location ) 90+ days in & not a single cannibal/mutant sighted.
Its here on the map look for the blue marker https://theforestmap.com/#-1398.4,976.0
They haven't even wandered near the bridge I built to get myself & supplies over from the beach.
There's also cliff you can zipline logs down from that doubles as a defensive wall & choke point.
The cannibals have a few way's of moving around the island. They all have patrol routs and if you kill a group, they will respawn after a while. If you build OUTSIDE their patrol routs (basically away from the actual forest itself). If you build in an area that looks scenic, there is a pretty big chance that there are patrols walking around. Small puddles with lots of fish, wood and other resources? Probably an area with patrols. You can deal with them if you know how, but once the mutants start spawning you might be in for a nasty surprise if you didn't boobytrap the ENTIRE area around your base.
The second way is based on the size of your base. The bigger your base gets, the more you will get attacked. If you build on an island, the enemies should still reach the beach near your base, but never cross the water. I'm not entirely sure if this is still the case.
I personally start building on a cliff south-south east first. 80% of my foundation is in the sea, only the front of the building is on land. Build a wall around it, defenses in front and a few traps scattered around. You will rarely pull a patrol towards your base, and if you do get unlucky with mutants the traps should take care of two at least. You can finished the last one.
Once you are ready you can go further north towards the sink hole. Keep a clear eye out for patrols while moving there. When building always make sure you build your base at either the edge of a cliff, or with your back into one. Defending from mutants and cannibals from all directions (solo) is almost impossible. You will get overrun, even on normal. If you force all enemies to attack you from one side, you can safely place your stronger traps there, build funnels and stay in control.
It is great fun defending against cannibal attacks when they don't attack every single time you leave your base. The only way to do this is to build in area's where they don't walk around. Do keep in mind that everything will spawn inland and if you decide to "play" the game on day 100, you will get wrecked by all the heavy things that do spawn futher inland.
Tell me, where in any of the OP comment does it say or even mention anything like you're pointing to?
He/she was asking if it was a current glitch/issue, something he/she is missing.
If he's stating that the attacks are non-stop, as in actually non-stop...chances are there is something going on here...not just 'omgz game too hard'.
How about you offer some constructive crisicim, rather than just toxic elitisim.
Because it's that kind of garbage that runs a large majorty of players away from games.
Leaving certain games awash in a wasteland of negative-holier than thou players forever stuck in this mindset.
This may come to a shcok to you, given the small world you most likely live in...
But people are different. Not everyone thinks, plays, eats, sleeps or complains like you do.
Some of us have actual lives, meaning that we can't consume our very existence with the hope of getting 'good' at a game(s).
Grow up dude. You're impressing no one, not even your pet goldfish.
On the other hand, there are some places on the fringes of the map where patrols never go, so you only have to deal with the occasional scouting party at worst.
