Is steamcloud not sharing save data?
Can you scroll through available saves or do you only have the saves you made on that device?
Yeah i cant seem to have the same file (i.e my saved game on my PC does not appear on my laptop which leads me nowhere but to start a new game.)
It works on different game like Stardew Valley
What do you mean scroll through saves, i only have Slot1 used.
in pc B, immediately build a temporary shelter and save to slot 2.
exit to main menu, game will sync.
load slot 1.
profit.
manual way:
folder: User > AppData (hidden folder) > LocalLow > SKS > TheForest
copy everything in "TheForest" folder in pc A, paste to pc B in the same directory path.
Thank you so much, your first method saved me a lot of trouble. I recently switched hard drives in my laptop and to manually retrieve the old saves would've been really problematic. It's such an odd solution, but it worked!
So I've been unconsciously overwriting previous Steam saves every time I save a new game in the apparently empty Slot 1??
Since I don't have my own gaming PC, I have to use random computers at a PC gaming cafe that resets the hard drive on every shutdown, so I really need to figure this out so I can start properly enjoying the game.
But how you play anyway, if the HDs are erased on shut down? Have to the whole game each time?
I started with a ripped version where saving didn't work, but had already decided to buy the game on Steam anyway. I couldn't find the location on there for a while either, but just figured out the AppData folder yesterday :D
Now I don't need to carry the hard drive either, since Steam loads it each time. Turns out the ripped version is missing the story at the end, so you can't get Creative Mode. All set now though :D
Still works
