Are you using it in multiplayer?
A shame it has problems in multiplayer.
I walked in the trap several times myself and took no damage.
Save yourself resources and only build deadfall traps.
He's right. You need to make sure enemies will go through it, not just walk around it or near it.
Try finding ways of funneling enemies into the trap (at the gates of your base or between large rocks, etc.). If they are moving in the direction of the spikes when the trap is activated they'll die instantly.
Definately not making these again, trying out deadfalls next.
Strange. I got a recent coop save in which we just finished building a few happy birthday traps. I'll see what happens when cannibals start showing up and update this thread.
On my SP campaign they one hit kill all regular mutants except the monster types ofc.
