Playing with strangers

How easy is it to play this game with strangers? Is it viable to get this game and play multiplayer if you don't have any friends to play with? I'm kind of confused as to how the multiplayer works.

It can be frustrating. There's no anti-cheat which scares a lot of public gamers off and a lot of people kick you upon entry to thier games without word or warning. But you can always look for people to play with here in the co-op discussions section.

I find it easy to. I used to play multiplayer servers randomly all the time. Most people are always welcoming and friendly.

Its a mixed bag, never know who ppl are. Good bit of kids using mods for bad. Suggest using co-op forum to find ppl or public with iron forest on so kids cant wreck your stuff or delete it in mere seconds.

Many players join servers, given the low amount of people that volunteer to host. The main concern are cheaters and griefs. Both can be dealt with by having backup saves, and catching/banning them.

Depends on teammates really, some losers would join ur world and destroy base and quit, so save when u can

speaking from experience and trust me i have alot when it come to playing on peer to peer server on random servers, minority of them will ban you right when you enter their servers but it really is only a minority that does that and they might have their reasons, no one ban without reasons even the most ridiculous one is a good reason for one. dont use anti cheat as it kick players that doesnt cheat more often than players that cheat because of they way they did that anticheat it doesnt work at all for modders, you will end up kicking friends over and over, its annoying trust me. as for the rest, most of them will ban you for a few reasons, it can be that when you join, you dont say hi or speak at all, it can be that they forgot to put it on private, it can be that youre not helping with base, it can be that you taking too long to make your way to them, it can be a mistake often as well, they ban you coz they thought you were hacking somehow or they werent sure so they just ban you, personally i d say dont waste your time on peer to peer either host your own server with friends and search on co op discussion or play singleplayer coz its almost exclusivly always a short trip with them, never to be seen again, if you just want to learn the game, sure join randoms peer to peer and have fun for a few hrs on that server but thats about it, most of the time it really is just a waste of time, hosts dont let you save when they quit or all kind of ignorant stuff. the only problem and i quote if you join alot of peer to peer are the cheaters and trolls, dont join a server thats says no cheat plz, most of the time the host dont even pay attention to players in their server and that title kinda attract them a bit, to test how far they can troll your with lies and mods, it literally is always the same with them, for the very few that use mods truly only to build, somehow they never do it on their servers, and second its really super rare, most of them are pure ignorant trolls, accusing other of cheating and trying to act as if youre the one cheating, iv been ban many times for complete absurd reasons while i never used dev mode or mode api, yeah they are really frequent and thats a big bummer so eithert host yourself with friends, dedicated server can be good but is kinda hard to setup, or singleplayer but thats doesnt answer your question anyway i hope you buy, its a great game

yeah um no lol me and a friend did that and made the server ' public ' and within like 20 minutes you get some cheater/modder guy who runs around destroying your base and killing you like a troll....so always make it private or friend only
