Are 'defensive walls' enough?
Are these walls enough to keep them out ? I didn't yet have any visit of a horde or somekind :D

Try using rock or bone walls. Use the defensive walls for a gate.

Thanks for the advice ! i currently have a big defensive wall with the wall improvement (no stone) so might wanna add a stone wall next to it.

Yea they jump right over defensive walls even with the stick/stone addition. Stone walls have to be 3 high I think to keep them out. Virginias might be able to jump them still.

good to know :P stupid that these defensive walls are useless.

My stone walls are only 2 high and nothing has jumped over them so far even though getting hit alot by attacks.

I wonder, does spiked wall prevent cannibals from climbing legitamately over? I have seen them clip through small cracks in a poorly designed wall, but never saw them jump it with defensive spikes.

Same here, just to be sure i did build a 3 layer stone wall :P the cannibals are shy most of the time it seems like they are more scared of us

Defensive walls are a waste of time in hard mode, mutants will smash through them in mere seconds. You need to have multiple gates at each entrance in hard mode to even keep mutants out for just a minute. That plus the fact mutants can smash platforms through your stone/bone walls means you can't even build ledges against the walls on the inside of your base to attack from.

In the end you're better off leaving your base to fight them. Which is kind of silly.

My bases are much smaller now, at least at first. I build defensive fences first, followed by 3 high stone followed by another 3 high fence. The cannibals as well as the 3 BigUglies, can jump over a fence, or a 3 high wall, now. So, I build a 2 section fence gate: i.e. first I put down a foundation floor at ground level, about 10 feet deep. then I add two wall gates on it. I surround it with the same stuff as above.

Then I build a sniper platform at each corner, sticking out over the innermost wall, so I can shoot fire arrows or throw molotovs in either direction. But they go down easily. In the middle of each wall I install a custom stairway so the top platform is out over the wall but as far above it as I can readily get. They can't jump that high, and can only tear it down by breaching the outer walls. I build so one wall is backed by a cliff, or hangs over a cliff. Makes it cost less to build.

Takes me about 10 days to build a good base. But I can't stay in one unfinished for more than 1-2 nights before the hordes hit. So I have 4 bases going, and I travel between them. I do have 5 bases I consider 'safe', period. I'm shooting videos of those 'safe bases'.

I have have made one hard base out of the plane fuselage and another of the plane's cockpit. Thus far nothing can get inside the fuselage or the cockpit. So I'm safe inside, and can put a shelter, food rack, water collector and fire inside. Doesn't look good, but""""".

The yacht is also safe and you can travel readily anywhere along the coasts in a raft.

It's a lot of work, but sticks and logs are available, using the raft as well. I use bombs and dynamite to blow down trees by dropping in the middle of any group of trees. But first I build a log sled and a log holder so I don't lose them when, not if, I have to run before picking all of them up.

Cheers, have fun!
